Finding a Private Setting
Online counselling may be very appropriate for you in every way... except one.
I strongly recommend that you make sure you have a private time and/or location for reading and writing TherapEmail before you register for online counselling. For example, most people would not want anyone else to be able to read their TherapEmail over their shoulder.
And please think seriously about whether or not you want to do this from work. I would recommend against it. Some employers keep records of what employees are doing online. (And, of course, I wouldn't want you to be tempted to do online counselling during work hours.)
Another thing to consider is the emotional nature of counselling. You may, while reading or writing a message, experience strong emotional reactions. If you were being regularly interrupted by friends or family, you probably not get the most out of your online counselling experience . You can also imagine that it would be difficult if you had to answer the door or the telephone in the middle of working on something emotional. I bring these things up so that you will make an informed decision about where you sit while connecting with your counsellor.
If you are not able to plan a way to ensure the privacy of your setting, I would be glad to provide you with a few tips on finding a face-to-face counsellor instead.
