Confidentiality Policy: Brief Version
Registering for online counselling indicates your agreement with this policy:
Therapy Online is governed by professional ethics and the substantive laws of Canada. Therapy Online's counsellors will not communicate your Personal Information to anyone without your consent.
However, there are several important exceptions:
1. To provide you with the best possible service, Therapy Online's counsellors are regularly supervised by other qualified counsellors.
2. Canadian law requires counsellors to report any suspicion of risk of child abuse or neglect.
3. If we believe that a person's life may be in danger, we will report the situation to appropriate authorities.
4. Courts of law have the power to demand that we release your records if you are involved in a court case in which your relationship to Therapy Online is somehow relevant.
The ability of Therapy Online's counsellors to fulfill their obligations as described in 1, 2 and 3 above are limited by the information that you provide them.
