Is Sexual Abuse Your Main Concern?

First I want to tell you that I admire your courage in recognizing that you have been, or may have been, sexually abused. And you wouldn't be here right now if you didn't also realize that you may be experiencing problems as a result of the abuse. Recognizing that sexual abuse happened, and that it has harmed you are very important steps in the process of healing. (At this moment I feel even more admiration for you as I realize more deeply the steps you are taking.)

Unfortunately, we are not certain that online counselling is an appropriate approach for people whose main reason for getting counselling is to deal with sexual abuse. We need to wait for the guidance that research will provide us in this area. I'm sorry if you were hoping TherapEmail would be a good way to meet your needs.

Research may eventually show that online counselling is an effective way to address sexual abuse. But for now, I would like to encourage you to find a face-to-face counsellor.

The least I can do for you is to offer you some tips on how to find a sexual abuse counsellor who can help you.

I wish you courage, faith, and love, in your healing journey. Good-bye for now.
